Communities NOW; Connecting for Kids at the Butler Institute for Families
April isn’t the only time to think about child abuse and neglect prevention!
Hello - As part of our on-going efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect and strengthen families and the systems that serve them, the Butler Institute for Families at the University of Denver is pleased to announce the launch of Communities NOW; Connecting for Kids!
Communities NOW (formerly the Front Porch Project) is an innovative, research-supported and community-based initiative built on the belief that all people who are concerned about the well-being and safety of children can be encouraged and taught how to make a difference. Whether your community is a suburban neighborhood, urban city, or rural setting, Communities NOW provides a vehicle for participants to get back in touch with those around them, network with concerned friends, and create support systems to help each other through difficult times. This primary prevention initiative has a unique focus on educating and empowering concerned citizens on the role they can have in protecting children and supporting families.
In numerous sites across the country, Communities NOW has proven to be an effective vehicle in reinforcing the necessity of personal responsibility and the belief in the “power of one” person to make a difference in the lives of children and families.
