New data brief: Recent Demographic Trends in Foster Care

September 13, 2013

The Office of Data, Analysis, Research and Evaluation (ODARE), is launching a new data brief series highlighting findings from administrative and survey data  focusing on children, youth and families served by ACYF.  The series will address topics of current interest to the field. ACYF expects to publish data briefs two or three times per year.

This first brief, Recent Demographic Trends in Foster Care, documents trends over the last decade in the size and racial and ethnic composition of the foster care population, including select state and county patterns.

The brief can be found on the Children’s Bureau’s website, under ‘Statistics and Research’: https://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cb/research-data-technology/statistics-research/afcars

For questions about this particular data brief or about the data brief series, please contact Dr. Brett Brown at brett.brown@acf.hhs.gov
